RULES AND SCHEDULE

·         Dates: Last day for application will be Sunday January 11, 2004. Bowling is on Sunday Jan 18, 2004. We have Cosmo bowl reserved from 12:30 to 6:00 p.m.

·         Maximum Number of Players: Due to the heavy turnout of applicants, especially men, we will use all 32 lanes.  We may need to designate 4 men per lane, instead of 3.  The maximum number of men will be 32 x 4 = 128.  The maximum number of women/youth/children will be 28 x 3 = 84 (4 lanes used for men’s house color competition round).

·         What Players’ Get: Each participant will play 3 games of bowling.  The cost of shoe rental is also already included with the player’s application. There will also be free soft drinks served. Players must pay their own bills for any food ordered. We have requested Cosmo bowl not to serve any alcohol during our reserved time.

·         Have Lunch before coming: Players should have their lunch and arrive at Cosmo bowl, although lunch is available there, but there will be another league playing at Cosmo until 12:30p.m.

·         We request all organizers to be there by 12:00.  There is another league playing there until 12:30.

·         Exact Start Time: Men’s game starts at exactly 1:00 p.m. Women, Youth, and Children starts immediately at the end of the men’s game which is planned to start at 3:00 p.m.

·         Regulations for Late Comers: If 5 frames have been bowled in a late player’s lane, that game is considered a forfeit and the player gets default points equal to the average of their next 2 games.  If a player is late for over a single game, the player is disqualified from house competition, but can still play for fun the remaining game time they may have (however, if they arrive at the onset of game 3, for example, they can only play their remaining 1 game for fun).

·         Players’ Lane: We will divide the players into the lane number.  No requests to switch will be taken. When players arrive they will ask for their lane number through the lane coordinator.

·         Men’s Team Ranking:  Top 3 total scorers from each house color will advance to the Men’s House Color Competition Round which is another round of competition to begin around 3:00 p.m. (held at same time as women, youth, and children play time). The house with highest total score from this 3-game team competition round determines the rankings for the men’s division.

·         Women, Youth, and Children Team Ranking:  The top ____ scores for each color in each division will be added to determine the house color ranking for that division. Top Scores to count:

o        Women – count top 5 scores

o        Youth Boys – top 2

o        Youth Girls – top score

o        Children – top 3

·         Trophies: Trophies will be given to top single game scorer and top total points (3 games) for each of the 5 divisions: Men, Women, Youth Male, Youth Female, Child. In case an individual is top single game scorer and top total points scorer, they must forfeit one of their 2 trophies and the 2nd best person gets the forfeited trophy instead. The Men’s second round competition (men’s house color competition round) will not be used to determine top scores, since the trophies will be given to the men at the end of first round of competition.

·         Team Points Distribution: The following distribution is based on the number of participants and is subject to change once the exact enrollment numbers are known.

SOME REGULATION CHANGES ADDED LATER

Revised Regulations for Late Comers: If 5 frames have been bowled in a late player’s lane, that game is considered a forfeit and the player gets default points equal to the MINIMUM (lower scoring game) for their remaining 2 games. This should discourage late comers enough, but not kill them out of the competition.

Another rule we will run into problems with is for determining house color points:

Women, Youth, and Children Team Ranking:  The top 5 total scores for each color in each division will be added to determine the house color ranking for that division.

This must be changed because some teams don't have that many participants. We will make it equal to the minimum number of participants in that division, so it is:

Women: use top 5
Youth Boy: Use top 2
Youth Girl: Use top 1 only
Children: Use top 4

Also, since there are total of 114 men and 117 women, we will assign 4 men to a lane and 4 persons to a lane for the second round as well.  That also means we will have to rush to men's game a bit and make sure they finish in 2.5 hours exactly (by 3:30), so the other games finish by 6:00 sharp.
