HOUSE COLOR: MOTIVATION AND OBJECTIVES

Once a year there comes a time when organizers receive a wake-up call to organize 300 participants into teams to participate in the annual YTSA Sports Day.  Organizing such teams is both tedious and time-consuming. This has inspired the establishment of the YTSA House Colors whereby members will be divided into teams of different colors and remain with that team for a certain number of years. After this several year period, we may decide to reassign all the teams again so that members may be exposed to working with different types of people and establish new friendship and kinship.

 The objectives of the House Colors are the following:

1.         To divide the community into smaller, easily manageable groups of evenly skilled teams to have fair competition in the long term.

2.         Facilitate the organization of more well-defined, fully integrated events that are wholesome for the community including sports, culture, and spiritual events by having a clearly defined organization structure and teams. The three class of activities we will initially focus on include: 1) Sports 2) Gurbani 3) Talent.

3.         To infuse a strong sense of teamwork into each team, giving an individual the motivation to further his or her sense of duty.

4.         To create regularity, whereby a group can improve the skills by practicing together and understanding their team members.

5.         Extend the spirit of friendly competition and sportsmanship from the sports arena to other aspects of our community to foster friendship, improve spiritual awareness, and educate the community on our cultural and religious heritage, all this while having lots of wholesome family fun.

6.         Strengthen the role of the YTSA as an organization for the benefit of the Thai-Sikh community.
